Scent Club

Scent Club is back for summer of 2026!! Are you ready to put your dog’s scenting skills to the test? Join Scent Club, a fun and flexible way to keep your dog’s nosework skills sharp with weekly blind searches around campus.

Scent Club is a low-pressure, self-paced training option designed to build confidence, independence, and real-world search skills in a supportive environment.

Scent Club runs seasonally from May through September.

Club Structure

Every Sunday morning, you’ll receive an email with a photo clue and a general hint about the location of that week’s exterior hide. The weekly hint will vary depending on the Training Tracks you select.

Training Tracks (New for 2026)

To better support a wider range of teams, Scent Club now offers two participation levels. You can choose the option that best fits your current training stage (and switch as your skills progress!).

Scent Detectives (Full Blind Searches)

Designed for experienced teams working at a more advanced level. You’ll receive only a general location hint each week (e.g., “somewhere on the front of the training barn”), with no additional detail. This format supports independence in searching, problem-solving, and handler confidence in reading your dog.

Scent Explorers (Guided Searches)

Designed for teams building toward fully blind searches. In addition to the general location, you’ll receive a more detailed clue about the type of search (e.g., container, exterior, elevated, hole hide, etc.), so you can prepare appropriately before arriving on site.

Booking Your Session

Once you receive your weekly clue, you can book a 30-minute time slot to bring your dog and complete the search. Sessions are available throughout the week on a first-come, first-served basis.

On-Site Searching

When you arrive, the hide location will be unknown within the designated area. Your dog will work the environment to locate the target odour.

Checking the Hide Location

If you want confirmation after your search, the exact hide location is available in the sports field mailbox. You may choose to stay blind or verify afterward.

After the Challenge Hide

After completing the weekly hide, you may use the remaining time in your session to:

• Set your own practice hides
• Revisit skills you are working on
• Or allow your dog some off leash exploring time in the yard

Please avoid placing hides near the challenge area so the space remains neutral for other teams.

Scent Club Eligibility

This program is best suited for teams who:

• Have completed at least half of their Scent Lab notebook, or are a Scent Scholar
• Are comfortable working independently without instructor support
• Are looking for self-directed training opportunities

All Scent Club members can join for $39.99 + tax for May.

This gives you a full month to experience the program before choosing your preferred membership option for the rest of the season.

June–September Options

After May, you can choose one of the following:
