Frequently Asked Questions
At Canadian Canine College, we use positive reinforcement training, which focuses on rewarding. This approach builds confidence, trust, and a strong bond between you and your dog, while making learning enjoyable and effective.
Our training campus is based in Vanessa, Norfolk County, serving dogs and their families from Simcoe, Delhi, Waterford, Port Dover, Tillsonburg, Brantford, and surrounding areas. Our campus offers a safe, welcoming, and structured environment for group classes, private consultations, and puppy training programs.
For most dogs, group classes are an excellent starting point. They provide a structured, social environment where dogs learn basic obedience, manners, and confidence alongside other students. Puppies and young dogs especially benefit from socialization and foundational training in a fun, supervised setting.
A private consultation is ideal if you have reactivity concerns or a specific behaviour you want to focus on. Private sessions allow Melissa to tailor techniques to your dog’s needs and your home environment, providing a personalized training plan that addresses your goals.
Both paths support life skills, confidence, and long-term success for your dog!
If your puppy will be older than 15 weeks when classes begin, they’ll start in Grade 1, our core beginner dog training class. Grade 1 is where most dogs begin their training journey. It covers all the essential puppy training foundations in a setting designed for their age and attention span.
Yes! We encourage family participation to support consistent training at home. Children are welcome, but they must be under direct and active supervision at all times.
